The project in the Indian state of Rajasthan operates a 20 MW solar PV plant, equivalent to supplying 8,300 households with clean energy per year. In seven years, a total of 245,000 tons of carbon will be avoided. Over 37 GWh of clean electricity is generated annually, contributing to economic growth in the region.
Project Impacts and Benefits:
The project promotes a variety of the 17 UN Sustainable Economy Goals and improves community well-being in the form of:
- Promoting education and employment through meaningful vocational activities.
- Eradicating hunger and poverty.
- Developing and providing clean drinking water infrastructure.
The project region is dry and hot, and tap water is not potable. The project includes a reverse osmosis water filtration plant that provides drinking water to hundreds of families.
The project provides permanent employment opportunities for 34 people, and 28 local employees have been hired.
The project developer spends about USD 160,000 annually to operate and maintain the project. This money helps create jobs (directly and indirectly), as well as promote small businesses, etc.
